Joaquim Bretcha is an Economist at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and holds a degree in Business from the IESE.
Currently the ESOMAR President, he has created and expanded the International Business Unit at Netquest since 2010.
Both responsibilities give him the ability to stay permanently in touch with the international data, market research and insights community and stay tuned to the latest market developments.
Previously, he has served as Director of Marketing and Purchases at Auchan supermarkets in Spain, Retail Director at Kantar Worldpanel Spain and Merchandising Director at Carrefour supermarkets in Spain.
Most recently he has co-founded the NGO “Health us Nepal” to bring health to the remote region of Humla and has had the experience of being a TEDx Talker in England.
Joaquim has travelled the market research and insights world. As a speaker he has been on the stage at the ESOMAR Conferences such as the World Summit 2019, Latam (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019), APAC (2015, 2018, 2019) and Big Data (2017), the TMRE (Orlando, 2017, 2018), CIM (Mexico 2017), APEIM (Peru 2017, 2018), IIEX Europe (Amsterdam, 2018), IIEX North America (Atlanta, 2018, Austin 2019 ), IIeX Latam (Chile 2018, Colombia 2019), Research & Results (Munich 2018), le Printemps des Études (Paris, 2018, 2019), MRSummit (London, 2018), SAIMO (Buenos Aires, 2018) and at the Insights Show (London 2015). He’s been a member of the Programme Committees of SAIMO (2016 Argentina), ESOMAR BDW (New York 2017) and APEIM (Peru, 2018). He’s been a frequent speaker at FMCG Conferences in Spain and a TEDx Talker presenting his piece “Discovering the joy of travelling for business” (Royal Tunbridge Wells, UK. 2017)
